Summary of User Fees in the Lexington Public Schools FY 03-04

 

 

Athletic Fees  Total collected in 2003: $93,584

 

High School:               $200.00 fee per athlete covers all interscholastic sports

Middle School:

            Varsity:            $60 per season

            Intramural:       $35 per season

            Clinics             $25 per clinic, 3 held per year

Elementary                  $45 per year for intramurals

Family Plan                 $400 maximum per family with students in grades 5-12

 

Waiver:                        Families may request a waiver by completing a form, obtaining principalšs approval. Reduces fees by half

 

 

Bus Fees     Total Collected in 2003:  $496,575

Policy:  Students in grades K-6 living 2 miles or more from assigned school transported without charge.

All other students may purchased a ticket to ride:

Before July 1 and families new to Lexington $225/student               $450 family cap

On or before July 31                                                   $245/student               $490 family cap

After July 31 and subject to availability                       $365/student               $730 family cap

Hayden Recreation Center                                           $70/student                 $140 family cap

 

 

 

Elementary Instrumental Music      Total collected in 2003:  $107,575

 

For grades 4 and 5, 30 minute lesson per week:          $250/student               $500 family cap

 

 

 

Building Rental   Total collected in 2003:          $45,157

Fees vary by space and location.  Building rental form.

 

 

 

Transcripts          Total collected in 2003: $6,000

High School students are charged a fee of $2 per transcript to prepare and mail transcripts with college applications.

 

 

Recommendations for FY05 Budget

 

Increase transcript fees to $5.00

Increase bus fee by $125 per rider

Cover debate transportation by a fee similar to instrumental music

JV Hockey  - $ 545.45 per student

Middle Schools and LHS Intramurals ­ $40.00 per student increase
