Mesopotamia Webquest

I. Introduction:

The Lexington Virtual Museum is planning an exhibit about Mesopotamia. This exhibit will showcase artifacts from the ancient civilization of Mesopotamia. The museum also hopes to show the significance of these artifacts and to compare/contrast the ancient civilization to the one in which we live.

The Museum has a problem. The artifacts are not labeled. In addition, there is no written information about these artifacts or their significance. The museum is unable to complete its exhibit without this valuable information.

Remember an artifact is defined as any human made object.

II. Task:

The Lexington Museum has hired your team of archaeologists to identify these mysterious items and to find out what their significance was in Mesopotamian society. Once the objects have been identified and researched, the team members will use their information to help the museum complete its exhibit.

III. The Process:

Each team of archaeologists will be made up of 3-5 people. Team members will be responsible for first predicting, then researching the assigned artifact(s) for identification, purpose and significance. Keep notes on the "Archaeology Log" supplied by the museum director, (your teacher.) Share your information in your teams. Each team will present their research to the class.
