I hope that your spring is off to a good start! At Bridge, we will be very busy over the next few months working on placement, conducting conferences, administering MCAS, preparing for the summer renovations, hiring new staff, etc. I wanted to take this time to update you on a few things.
As you know, Assistant Principal, Ms. Erin Maguire, will be going on maternity leave for the remainder of the school year beginning on May 8th. In order to fulfill some of her responsibilities, I have hired “An Assistant to the Principal” to begin on May 1st. This position is somewhat different from the Assistant Principal role however, the assistant will be able to support staff and students in multiple capacities. I am pleased to announce that Ms. Kristen Baranofsky (who is currently one of our kindergarten teachers) has accepted this position. For the remainder of the school year, we have hired long-term substitute, Ms. Tracey Gallagher, to teach Ms. Baranofsky’s class. Ms. Gallagher has worked at Bridge for the past two years as a long-term sub, a kindergarten assistant, and as an instructional assistant. She is very familiar with the curriculum and will be working closely with Ms. Baranofsky to ensure a smooth transition.
Next year, our kindergarten enrollment is increasing. Thus, we will be going from four sections to five. We have begun the interview process for this position as well as to fill retiring kindergarten teacher Ms. Janice Sciarretta’s K position. We have had many qualified candidates in for a first round of interviews and are beginning our second round next week.
I look forward to returning from my leave on April 15th. I had the pleasure of visiting the students and staff on March 7th at the Dr. Seuss assembly. My daughter Charlotte and I were guest readers and it was a joy to see all of the students and staff. A special thank you to Acting Principal Erin Maguire for all that she has done during my leave.
