School Committee Seeks Special PBC Members for School Projects
Maria Hastings School

School Committee appreciates the MSBA’s recent vote to support the Maria Hastings elementary school capital project. Carl Valente, Town Manager, has notified the School Committee that we may recommend individuals to serve as Permanent Building Committee Members for School Projects. We may recommend two people to support the Maria Hastings project and we invite interested community members to apply.

School Committee and Permanent Building Committee (“PBC”) meetings are open to the public and community members are always welcome to attend any of these public meetings. Appointees are expected to attend PBC meetings, may be asked to participate in formal votes when required, and are expected to remain in close communication with the School Committee.

Who may be appointed?
The School Committee may appoint School Committee members to serve in these roles, or other community members who are not Town employees. Applicants for PBC roles frequently have specialized knowledge about engineering, architecture, a related field, or special knowledge about a particular town facility. PBC meetings are customarily held once a month on Thursday evenings, but times and dates may vary. Additional meetings are anticipated as each project moves forward. In our most recent appointment process for Diamond and Clarke we selected one School Committee member and three community members.

The School Committee invites interested community members to complete an application and submit it no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday February 29,  2016. We hope to make the appointments at our March 8 meeting. If interested,   click here to download the application (in pdf format)  Inquiries and completed applications may be sent by email to the School Committee’s Executive Assistant, Paula McDonough: pmcdonough@sch.ci.lexington.ma.us. Applications may also be mailed to the attention of the School Committee at 146 Maple Street, Lexington, MA 02420.
