K-5 Facilities Master Plan

Last July, the School Committee and Permanent Building Committee hired the architectural firm Design Partnership to prepare a K-5 master plan. The architect's study included an examination of the four K-5 schools that have not been replaced to determine: what construction work is needed, the cost of renovating or replacing the schools, the recommended enrollment capacity for the six K-5 schools, and a timetable for the needed work. In addition, the study included cost - effective options for providing space for the central office. The architects and engineers examined the physical conditions at Bowman, Bridge, Estabrook, and Hastings schools and have met with the principals to discuss the educational spaces they need. Design Partnership also conducted its own independent enrollment projection, which will be the basis for determining the amount of space we need over the next ten years. Design Partnership publicly presented its full report to the School Committee and the public at the November 14 and December 12 School Committee meetings. The reports prepared by Design Partnership plus presentation slides are provided for download below.
