Welcome to the Fine Arts Department!
The Fine Arts Program at Lexington High School is massive in its  depth and breadth. Incoming freshmen who wish to pursue advanced art courses are required to take Foundations of Art first. After this requirement has been fufilled, a vast array of courses are available (please see the program of studies for the full list of courses). Students at Lexington High School are able to choose from traditional courses, such as Drawing, Painting, Darkroom Photography, Book Design, Sculpture, Ceramics and Illustration, as well as digital Fine Arts courses, such as Animation, Digital Video Production, Web Design and Digital Imaging.

Cutting across each course are several commonalities, such as class critiques, an emphasis on process (how you get there) and product (the end result), composition, design, and craftsmanship. It is the goal of the Fine Arts Department that each student who takes an art class leaves with a greater appreciation and understanding of the Arts.
