LEXINGTON METCO PARENTS’ GROUP
The mission of the Lexington METCO Parents’ Group is to achieve 100% committed parental involvement, to work toward the continued success of the METCO Program and to maintain accountability of all stakeholders for the academic achievement of our children. In addition, our mission is to promote respectful and caring relationships with each other while embracing multicultural partnerships with students, families, and the Lexington Public School staff.
Lexington METCO Parents meet together on a monthly basis as a K-12 parent group. Meetings are usually held on the first Monday of each month school is in session.
All meetings will be held at the Twelfth Baptist Church, 160
Warren Street, Roxbury, MA beginning at 6:30p.m. unless otherwise advertised.
We ask that parents arrive promptly so that meetings can start on time and end on time. Your participation in these meetings and seminars are vital to the growth and stability of the Lexington METCO Program. Upon acceptance into the Lexington METCO Program you committed to attending 6 of the 8 meetings of which 5 should be a seminar of your choosing. Please make every effort of fulfill your commitment.

BUS SCHEDULES & DUES:
There are several
changes to the bus routes therefore, Parents will need
confirm bus stops and complete updated contact forms. Routes will not be given out if
payment is not made ($60.00 per family and $10.00 per additional child.) If you did not complete your payment of dues
last year please be prepared to do so at this time as well.
Due to limited
seating space, students may only ride
their assigned bus. Unauthorized
riders may not accompany a registered rider. Your bus driver or monitor cannot make changes or add stops. If
you would like to change a stop, you must fill out a Bus Stop Change request
form and submit it to the Lexington METCO Office. Forms can be obtained on August 14th
or by contacting me at the Lexington METCO Office. Please note that such requests will be
reviewed and changes
will not be made until the second or third week of school unless the change is
minor or safety related. Please be

transporting your children safely and calmly is one of the most important and
challenging goals of the METCO program. To accomplish this goal we must have the support and cooperation of
everyone. Therefore, we are asking
parents to model and speak with their children about safe, responsible, and
respectful behavior on the bus. It is
important for all students to understand the Bus Safety Rules and to have
knowledge of the consequences for infractions of those rules in advance of the
beginning of the school year.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING UPDATED TRANSPORTATION RULES:
· Students may NO longer bring or use electronics on the bus.
· You should arrive at the stop 10 minutes before the scheduled time and be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes beyond the scheduled time.
· Actual stop times will settle into the 10-minute window by mid September.
· Parents are required to get out of their cars so monitors can identify who is receiving the child
· Elementary students must be met by an adult or attend an After-school program
· We also suggest parents inform their children that they will be taken to the METCO Inc. Office in the event no one is at the designated stop to meet them.
