Ms. Beth Gavrin

This will be my sixth year teaching 5th grade at Fiske.  I live in Lexington, and my two children, Sarah and Ben, went to Bowman, Clarke and Lexington High School.  Sarah is in her fourth year at Hamilton College and Ben is a sophomore at Hobart & William Smith Colleges, both in upstate NY.

I’m originally from NY (but am a Boston sports team fan). I graduated with my BA in history from Williams College in Massachusetts, and have lived in the state ever since.  Before I became a teacher, I was a landscape architect.  I worked on many projects in the Boston area, including the Chelsea Elementary and Middle Schools, as well as the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historical Site and the Longyear Museum, both in Brookline.  While in grad school for landscape architecture, I worked on a project at Minute Man National Park, interpreting the historic landscape, and lived briefly in one of the historic homes there.

In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, read, knit, watch movies, and play/coach/watch soccer and other sports. Students, if you spy me around town (Rancatore’s, Wilson Farm, grocery stores, and local restaurants are good bets!), we can take a photo together and you’ll be added to my “Where’s Ms. Gavrin?” poster in class!
