Our math workshop begins with a 5-10 minute mini-lesson followed by station work. The students are free to choose any station. They must go to stations that they have not gone to. They go to stations that will make their brain grow in math. The stations are usually presented as games that focus on one of the following areas:operations and algebraic thinking, number and operations in base 10, measurement and data, and geometry. They are a chance to practice skills learned from the mini-lesson, as well as construct their own understanding of numbers and how they work together.
We follow Everyday Mathematics curriculum, supplemented with Kathy Richardson activities.
