Welcome to Mrs. Kugler's science class!
After finishing our genetics unit, we moved into our evolution unit and spent time exploring many topics including natural selection and artificial selection. We also spent quite a bit of time looking at the evidence that scientists use to support evolution. We are now beginning our ecology unit. During this unit, we will find time to get outdoors to observe the ecosystem and habitats around Diamond. We will also spend time collecting and analyzing data from a virtual pond. In June we will take a science field trip to Northeastern University’s Marine Science Research Center in Nahant to complete a series of activities related to a rocky intertidal zone. While visiting Nahant, students will also observe organisms in marine touch tanks and take a natural history walk around East Point. We will end out year with a mini unit on human impact. During this mini unit we will think about the ways that humans are changing ecosystems.
