Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey

When Charlie Bucktin hears his name being whispered outside his bedroom window, he never imagined the consequences to follow. Charlie sneaks out to help Jasper Jones.  If there is trouble, then Jasper’s name is on the lips every grown-up in town.  Charlie, honored, scared and trusting of Jasper, follows him through the hot, dark night, across town to a grove Jasper calls home where he helps Jasper bury the body of a murdered girl.
Set in a rural town of Australia during the 1960’s, this story is gripping and gritty, full of sorrow and suspense.
